Do you remember not too long ago when there was the trend that said something along the lines of, “Live your life like you’re the main character”?

The intentions behind this trend were to suggest that you should go and live your life as if you were the main character in your story.

There are a few major rules when it comes to story telling. Keep it interesting, catch people off guard, and the fact that the main character would never die. News Flash: I am not the main character of my own story, and one day I will pass away, and my name will likely be forgotten.

Hard reality right?

We all know deep down that we want to be seen, known, remembered, and admired. The fact is, the main character of every story plot is idolized. Everything that happens in their lives are centered around them. All eyes are watching their every move, and others will want to follow in their example.

I know I have been guilty of this before. Windows down, music as loud as it can go, with all of your friends singing along, feeling like I was made for this moment.

Here is my belief- In this world, none of us are the main character. I do not exist to be in your story line, and you don’t exist to be in mine. We are here and alive to support the real main character.

His name is Jesus Christ.

We exist to idolize Him, to follow Him, to worship and share His story and tell our friends about Him.

Through the greatest love story ever written, Jesus calls on common people like you and me to do extraordinary things. It’s not that He needs us, but He’s decided before the story was even written that we would have worth. He wanted us so badly that He made the choice to put purpose underneath our feet. By taking His life on the cross, He allow us to go and make disciples of all nations, heal the sick, and raise the dead (Matthew 10).

So, with this being said, who’s story do you live in? Are you willing to be a living sacrifice? (Romans 12:1) Are you willing to lay down your life for His?

  1. Amen and amen, Sydnie! This is a reminder I can use just about every day. More of Jesus; less of me. Thanks for sharing, friend.
